The film takes us back to the times when the legendary rock band “Bijelo dugme” (White Button) from Sarajevo took Yugoslavia by storm in the early 1970s and ruled the charts for 20 years, until the country began falling apart in 1989.
Its founder, composer Goran Bregovic has since become a global world music phenomenon, touring with a huge entourage of colorful brass orchestra and all-female folk choir.
Featuring rare archival footage of the music scene in Yugoslavia in the late 1960s and early 70s and from the next 15 years when Bijelo dugme burst onto the scene and captured popular imagination.
The film’s timeline closely mirrors the transformation of Yugoslavia from the poster-country of the Eastern bloc to a place on the brink of disintegration in 1989 when Bijelo dugme disbanded.
