THE STORY OF A SUMMER LOVER

Petru is a math professor at the Polytechnic University, who's living an easy life, with no big worries. He is in an open relationship with Irina, who agreed he can sleep with other women from time to time. But when she becomes pregnant, he will be put in the situation to change his lifestyle and be forced to mature at 42 years old. One of his supporting friends decides to write a book based on his story.

Negoescu pays homage to Woody Allen’s neurotic cinema and delivers a charming lightweight comedy. In an unpretentious pleasing way, the film enjoyably deals with everyday issues from sex and infidelity to professional success and men’s friendship. Captured in 35mm by Negoescu’s wife, Ana Draghici, The Story of a Summer Lover brings a cinematic refreshing air with a touch of retro-nostalgia suggesting a romantic approach where even Bucharest, embraced by jazz tunes, assimilates Paris.
