The Eighth national festival for cinematography "Golden Eye" was held in POPOVO between 25 and 28 May 2016.
The award "Golden Eye" for best cinematography was presented to Veselin Hristov for his work on Svetla Tsotsorkova's debut "Thirst".
The competition for feature and short films included 12 Bulgarian films from the past two years. Among them were "The Prosecutor, Defender, the Father and His Son" by Iglika Trifonova (DOP Rally Raltchev), "The Buffer Zone" by Georgi Dulgerov (DOP George Chelebiev), "The Corps Collector" by Dimitar Dimitrov (DOP Boris Slavkov), "While Aya was asleep" by Tsvetodar Markov (DOP Cyril Palikarski) and others.
The festival for cinematography is organized every two years and is dedicated to the memory of the legendary cameraman Dimo Kolarov. The main festival task, in the words of its director Petya Gabrovska, is "to promote Bulgarian cinema to be stimulated art image in the work of Bulgarian cinema operators."
